Fabric Design
Art that dresses the room
Original fabric designs by Cerise Washington, translating the luminous palette and atmospheric depth of her oil paintings into bespoke textiles for interiors, furnishings, and lifestyle.
From Canvas to Cloth
Where fine art meets textile craft
Cerise Washington's fabric design practice grew from a commission to reimagine the classic Brunschwig & Fils ‘Abigail’ pattern as an original painting for The Odd Chair Company on Kings Road, Chelsea. That project opened the door to a new creative direction -- extending her painterly vision beyond canvas into the world of bespoke textiles for interiors, cushions, curtains, and upholstery.
Drawing on Turner's landscapes, atmospheric light, and the rich colour palettes of the Middle East where she lived for two decades, each fabric design carries the depth and emotion of a painting -- translated with precision onto silk, linen, and fine cotton.

Cushions & Soft Furnishings
Scatter cushions, bolsters, and throws upholstered in Cerise's painterly fabrics bring gallery-worthy colour and texture to any seating arrangement. Each design retains the luminous depth and expressive brushwork of the original painting.

From painting to fabric
Original Painting
Every fabric design begins as an oil painting in Cerise's studio. The atmospheric colour, impasto texture, and expressive brushwork are captured in their full richness on canvas.
Digital Translation
The painting is meticulously digitised at high resolution, preserving every layer of pigment, every nuance of light and shadow, ready for textile reproduction.
Colourway Development
Working with print specialists, multiple colourways are developed from each source painting -- adapting the palette for different interior schemes while retaining the design's emotive quality.
Fabric Selection & Printing
The design is printed onto carefully selected base cloths -- silk, linen, cotton, or blended weaves -- using advanced digital printing techniques that ensure colour fidelity and durability.
Finishing & Application
The finished fabric is tailored for its intended application, whether hand-sewn cushion covers, made-to-measure curtains, bespoke upholstery, or framed textile panels.
