The Process

From canvas to silk. A meticulous journey of transformation.

Each British Silk Accessories piece passes through six stages of creation, blending traditional artistry with modern precision to produce silk accessories of extraordinary quality.

01

The Painting

Every British Silk Accessories design begins in the studio. Cerise Washington works in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, creating original compositions that explore colour, texture, and form. Each painting is a complete work of art in its own right.

02

Digital Translation

The finished painting is captured using high-resolution imaging that preserves every brushstroke, every layer, every subtlety of colour. The artwork is then meticulously prepared for silk printing, with careful attention to scale, repeat, and the way light interacts with silk fibre.

03

Silk Selection

We use only the finest twill silk, chosen for its weight, lustre, and ability to hold colour with extraordinary depth. The silk is sourced to meet our exacting standards, ensuring the painted surface translates with vivid fidelity.

04

Printing & Steaming

The design is printed onto silk in England using advanced techniques that achieve exceptional colour accuracy. The printed silk is then steamed to fix the dyes, a traditional process that ensures lasting vibrancy and a luxurious hand-feel.

05

Washing & Finishing

After steaming, each piece is washed to reveal its full colour depth and softness. The silk is then finished by hand: edges are carefully rolled and stitched by skilled artisans, a hallmark of the finest silk accessories in the world.

06

The Finished Piece

The result is a silk accessory that carries within it the full emotional resonance of the original painting. Presented in bespoke packaging, each piece is ready to be worn, displayed, or collected as a work of art.
